In 2020, I returned to painting after my one-year-old daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation, with only 18 known cases worldwide. Art became my escape during one of the hardest periods of my life, helping me cope with anxiety and emotional exhaustion. Over time, creativity became healing and purpose. Through my art business and workshops, I now help others find joy, connection and peace through art. “Golden Hour Memories” captures the love and tenderness shared between my daughters during a special moment in Italy.

💙 Sometimes all it takes is one person to believe in a child’s idea

💙 A parent approached me saying their company wanted to create a mascot for a children’s book that would inspire young minds about the world of space. And with the imagination of 9-year-old, this little teddy began to come to life ✨🚀

💙 Step by step, sketch by sketch, we worked together to design this character ready for its adventures beyond the page. It’s amazing how the world of illustration works — an idea that once only existed in a child’s imagination can slowly transform into a real character ready to live inside a book and inspire other children.

💙 Moments like this remind me how important creativity is for children. Behind every opportunity is a parent willing to nurture their child’s imagination, encourage their ideas and acknowledge the little things we do in class that help children grow in confidence.

💙 I’m truly grateful to the parents who trust me with their children’s creativity and continue giving them opportunities to thrive beyond the classroom 💫

💙 As a teacher, this is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do, helping children put their thoughts onto paper and watching those ideas grow into something meaningful.

💙 So grateful that this mascot was chosen to be printed in the books to empower so many other children … and this teddy has only just began its journey 🧸✨

💙 For a couple of hours, we stepped away from the boardrooms and into a space of expression, colour, and connection and the energy was unmatched.

Last weekend was Mother’s Day (perhaps too late to post this!)…
and I didn’t have the headspace to celebrate it the way many mums do.

Because being a SEND mum doesn’t always follow the calendar.

And being an Asian SEND mum adds another layer to that experience…
one that isn’t always spoken about.

There aren’t really “special days” —
we celebrate in moments…
when our child is feeling at their best.

Most of the time, my mind looks like this

A thousand thoughts
A thousand emotions
All processing at once

The expectations
The comparisons
The things we don’t always say out loud

That second image — the messy colour palette…that’s my brain!

Cluttered. Overwhelmed. Tired.

But when I put those feelings onto a canvas, something shifts beautifully.

It starts to make sense. I can slowly organise what feels so heavy inside.

And in that process…
I create a little space for myself.

That’s exactly what I want to create for other SEND mums too —
especially those who may feel unseen or unheard.

A space where we can come together,
feel understood and gently organise our thoughts — on paper, on canvas, in our own way.

There was a time I thought success would look like numbers, room for of people, waiting lists, applause and so on

But over the last few years and by working with most of you, I’ve realised something far more meaningful.

✨ It’s in the quiet moments

The person who walks in unsure, apologising for not being “creative,” saying they haven’t painted in years…
And leaves laughing, paint on their hands, holding something they created with pride whilst bonding with their friend, sibling, cousin or just someone they met at the workshop.

The child who whispers, “I can’t do this”…
And leaves each week holding their artwork like a trophy.

That shift

That invisible lift

✨ When people leave workshops or class taller than they walked in — that’s why I do what I do. That’s real fulfilment for me

Art has never just been about the canvas.
It’s about the room. The energy. The permission to express without judgement

But here’s what I’ve also come to understand…

✨ When people choose to sit in that room with trust. When they place their confidence in me. When they rebook. return, and recommend.

That room grows me too in every way and I am very grateful for this

Their belief expands my belief

Their trust strengthens my standard

Their alignment allows me to evolve as a founder, as a woman, as a mother

Every workshop I host at Artbeat Hub is built around that feeling — Because confidence doesn’t always arrive loudly.

Sharing a bit more on this Rare Disease Day

❤️ For seven months, Veda, my younger daughter grew as a neurotypical baby.
And then… things slowly began to change.

What we live with is called a “rare disease.”, well atleast that’s what the medical world calls it!

For us It’s one very different, deeply adorable child who has expanded our world and capabilities in ways we never imagined. I also learnt at that point that I wasn’t made for 9-5!

Because it’s a non-visible disability, many don’t see what she goes through — or what we navigate as a family behind closed doors.

This was during Covid. When the world had shut down and appointments weren’t happening face to face. We flew abroad overnight searching for answers.
Eight weeks later, we came home with a diagnosis: “KCNQ3 - a rare genetic mutation” One of just 18 children in the world at the time - that’s what we were told

Cases.
Not children.
Cases.

There was no research as such. No clear treatment. Just uncertainty … there still isn’t any even now, just therapies, special schools and meds to control seizures

I found a small Facebook community of families living with KCNQ3. At that time, only one other family in the UK. The power of social media!

❤️ Fast forward to today — yes, there are daily struggles.
But there is also extraordinary love.
Resilience.
And the purest joy.

For me, art became healing.
It helped me process, breathe, and understand our world differently.
It gave me strength.

💙 And this is exactly why I created ArtBeat Hub. Why I am so passionate about helping others through art.
Because art isn’t just painting — it’s connection, release, and hope.

Sharing a bit more on this Rare Disease Day

❤️ For seven months, Veda, my younger daughter grew as a neurotypical baby.
And then… things slowly began to change.

What we live with is called a “rare disease.”, well atleast that’s what the medical world calls it!

For us It’s one very different, deeply adorable child who has expanded our world and capabilities in ways we never imagined. I also learnt at that point that I wasn’t made for 9-5!

Because it’s a non-visible disability, many don’t see what she goes through — or what we navigate as a family behind closed doors.

This was during Covid. When the world had shut down and appointments weren’t happening face to face. We flew abroad overnight searching for answers.
Eight weeks later, we came home with a diagnosis: “KCNQ3 - a rare genetic mutation” One of just 18 children in the world at the time - that’s what we were told

Cases.
Not children.
Cases.

There was no research as such. No clear treatment. Just uncertainty … there still isn’t any even now, just therapies, special schools and meds to control seizures

I found a small Facebook community of families living with KCNQ3. At that time, only one other family in the UK. The power of social media!

❤️ Fast forward to today — yes, there are daily struggles.
But there is also extraordinary love.
Resilience.
And the purest joy.

For me, art became healing.
It helped me process, breathe, and understand our world differently.
It gave me strength.

💙 And this is exactly why I created ArtBeat Hub. Why I am so passionate about helping others through art.
Because art isn’t just painting — it’s connection, release, and hope.
